About three months ago, Eden brought a show and tell to school that I couldn't stop thinking about. It was the cutest little sewn bag that held an array of fabric dolls, clothes, and accessories. They reminded me of the precious paper dolls of my childhood. Paper dolls were my favorite toy. I would cut them out of the Sear's Catalog. Every once in a while, my daddy would bring me a book full of paper dolls that I would punch out of the perforated pages, inevitably tearing one or two of them.
I thought about those dolls all through the holidays and then into the new year. I HAD to make them for my little grandgirl Isabel. Her birthday would be in March and there was no question that I needed to make them for my new little six year old.
So, I contacted Eden's mother and she told me how to make them. Her family owns a shop here in Provo that sells beautiful quilt fabric. She brought me the pattern for the bag and I was on my way. Honestly, every minute I spent making them was a joy. My family got a big kick out of me as I cut each doll from the fabric. I would hoot an holler and make everyone look at each piece. I got to use my NEW GOOD scissors for the job...that was probably half the joy! Having a good pair of scissors that actually worked. (thanks Mel Rae)
So, below, you will see this blessed project. To read more about the darling girl they were made for go here and here.
