Well, the new school year has begun and is in full swing. I have 21 darling little first graders that I get to watch over this year. For those who don't know, this is my 23rd year of teaching. I really can't believe that it has been that long. It seems like I was just walking up to the stage to receive my degree at Brigham Young University. Wow. What a road this has been.
My destiny (if you can call it that) in life was to be a teacher. It is my life. I can't imagine doing anything else. It's in my blood. I've seen the educational system come full circle and have watched programs come and go. I've taught 23 different classrooms full of children. I've taught every elementary level (except 6th...not because I don't want to, I just haven't had the opportunity yet). I've worked with countless cohorts and taught under six different principals and taught at three different schools (one of them in Canada for six months!) I received my Master's Degree in Educational counseling. I have a reading endorsement. I am the Literacy Coordinator for my school and have been for the last eight years which allows me to work on a daily basis with the wonderful teachers in my school.
BUT...aside from all of that...every single year brings the same excitement as the first for me. A fresh group of little vessels waiting to be filled with knowledge and hope from a teacher who loves them dearly. I am so lucky.
Teacher Tami raring to go. (That's Adrianne Woods, my co-teacher in the background. I adore her.)
No wonder I love my job. Look at that sweet face.
Doesn't she look like a Cabbage Patch Kid?
He misses the fireflies in Pennsylvania where he just moved from.
He keeps me laughing every day.
There are no words!
How did that get in here??
Sweet, adorable, smart.

Where were you when I was in first grade? My teacher was terrible. I needed a Mrs. Anderson.
I miss you!
YES!!!! I have always wanted to go back to first grade and who better than Mrs. Anderson to be my teacher! Everything looks great Ma and I'm sure everyone loves you to death!!! I know I sure do!
So cute! Um, that student who is showing only his profile looks a little um...OLD to be in your class. Perhaps he is an undercover agent of some sort??
That was a cute post. Your kids pics are great. . . except that weird profile shot that was second to the last. . .first graders can't grow beards.
